Smart Online acquires e-commerce provider imart

January 2006 - Smart Online Inc., a software provider for small and medium-size businesses, has acquired imart Corp., a provider of multi-channel e-commerce systems. It is Smart Online’s second acquisition this quarter.

During 2006, Smart Online will integrate imart’s e-commerce storefront application into its OneBiz Conductor platform. Once the integration and other upgrades are completed, OneBiz Conductor will offer online accounting customer-relationship-management, e-commerce storefront, human resource management and sales force automation applications

This announcement comes 13 days after Smart Online said it had bought Iowa-based Computility Inc. The two acquisitions have more than doubled Smart Online's work force from 34 to 73 employees and increased the company's revenue base more than fivefold. In addition, the acquired companies help fill out Smart Online's suite of software as services offerings.
